The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Special Investments, Hajia Maryam Uwais has said that the N-Power programme was introduced for the youths to serve.

Concise News reports that the Presidential aide disclosed this yesterday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during the official exiting ceremony for N-Power beneficiaries and flag-off ceremony for the Market Moni and Trader Moni Programmes of the President Buhari-led government.

According to Uwais, over 10,000 youths have been engaged in the programmes across public institutions in the state.

She also pointed out that the idea behind the Trader Moni and Market Moni was to support petty traders to grow their businesses and take ownership of their lives.

“When we started these programmes, we had four programmes and so far and we have spent N5 billion in Bayelsa on N-Power, Trader Moni and Market Moni, and for the Trader Moni/Market Moni. It wasn’t enough and we have come to do more.

“For the school feeding, we have not started (in Bayelsa state) but we have come to start it.

“For the Trader Moni and Market Moni, it appears as if we are just dashing people money in the market but we have a backup end technology because for every person we give N10,000, we get his or her picture, trade, history and profile is hosted on the Bank of Industry, BOI,” the lawyer explains.

Furthermore the activist hopes that the departing beneficiaries must have used proceeds from the scheme to start their own businesses to sustain themselves and pray they all succeed in their endeavours.

According to Mrs Uwais, the Federal Government in collaboration with state governments and private sectors are seeking for ways to engage the volunteers who are leaving.

Mrs Uwais discloses that the Bayelsa state governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has promised to absorb diligent N-Power beneficiaries of the state.

She advises beneficiaries to constantly check on their NPVN profile as more updates will be made available.
