It is approximately five months that the Federal Government announced a ‘big plan’ for some beneficiaries of the social intervention programme dubbed: N-Power. Till date, the details are still vague and volunteers tensed.

Checks by Concise News reveals that the pioneer beneficiaries are worried that the Federal Government is yet to unveil the ‘big plan’ they claim is in stock for the beneficiaries when they announced the phase of the programme in October 2018. In fact, their scepticism heightened during the elections period as many felt the ‘N-Power Enhanced’ was just a ploy by the ruling government to garner voters’ goodwill.

But the main elections are since over, with President Muhammadu Buhari returned to power and ceteris paribus is due to take the oath of office on May 29. Yet, it is still the plea of “be patient” anytime volunteers ask what their fate holds on the social media handles of the N-Power programme – the scheme’s basic contact means.

At that time, the authentic pages of the NPower announced thus:

“To our 2016 Beneficiaries who have been anxious, we are excited to share some news with you.

We won’t put you out in the cold. We have got you now and always.

Stay tuned to our channels.

March stipend still to be paid as at 12/4/2019

Meanwhile, volunteers are still groaning as, they are yet to be paid their N30, 000 monthly stipend for the month of March as at the time of filing this report.

Recall Concise News reports that Afolabi Imoukhuede, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment on Thursday assured beneficiaries they would get their March stipend “this week”.

The main thrust of the N-Power scheme is to harness Nigeria’s young demography through appropriate skill development, providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition/development, linking outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy.

Beneficiaries are engaged in different areas of public service, including education (N-Teach), health (N-Health), agriculture (N-Agro), building/construction (N-Build).
