Over 200,000 unemployed graduates have been employed by the Federal Government through the N-Power Volunteer Scheme, says Professor Uche Uwaleke.

According to the professor of Economics from the Nassarawa State University, Keffi, the initiative has curbed the growing level of unemployment in the country.

Uwaleke disclosed this at the ongoing leadership training programme organised on the auspices of the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups, NCBSG, for its coordinators nationwide, in Abuja.

He added that the government was on course to creating jobs as promised during the 2015 campaign.

In addition, he noted that the implementation of the Bank Verification Number, BVN, had plugged loopholes for siphoning public fund and tracking of illicit funds through multiple accounts.

He further said the government had continued to save up to N24.7 billion monthly from the Treasury Single Account, TSA, policy while about N108 billion had been saved from removal of maintenance fees payable to banks before the advent of TSA.

According to Uwaleke, the decrease in crude oil price from a peak of $114.60 per barrel per day (BPD)  in June 2014 to under $30/BPD by February 2016 created financial crisis for the government.

Uwaleke therefore lauded the Buhari-led administration for spending over N1.2 trillion on capital/infrastructure projects.
